Maho Beach, on the island of St. Maarten, is set to be the stage for a new survival-themed TV show. Participants, whose numbers are expected to steadily decrease as the show progresses, reportedly need to overcome a number of obstacles to prove to the world how fit they are. The obstacles include trampolines set in the path of approaching aircraft just before they touch down at Princess Juliana International Airport.
The expected furore in aviation circles didn’t materialise, though. Flight crew of airlines operating to the island, including Air France KLM and American Airlines, were reportedly excited at the prospect of pruning the participants for the long term good of the species. Some were even seen exchanging score cards.
In a catch-22 situation for the participants, those who do not spend the prescribed amount of time happily jumping on the trampolines would be tied to the other “obstacle” instead, the slingshot.
